Dating Advice

Meeting Online

A picture speaks a thousand words

You are likely to receive many times more responses to your profile if you post photographs. Choose a recent profile photo that clearly shows your smiling face in a flattering light. Create an album or more with additional photos. Add a full-length shot of you and other photos could show you doing something that interests you.

Stimulate interest your profile

Create a good headline for your profile. Making sure it is fun, positive and generates conversation. Challenging your potential date is a good way such as; "I'm looking for a man who can wine and dine me." You can also generate interest in you and stimulate conversation by mentioning a few of your favourite things in your profile.

Get to know each other at your own pace

Take all the time you need to get to get to know potential dates. Make sure that the person you decide to meet is the one that you are keen on dating. Message each other regularly by using our anonymous email or instant messenger system. Remember, in the process of using our internal messaging systems you can always choose to block someone from contacting you and report any concerns to the site administrators. When you are confident with communicating with our internal messaging systems, you can always take things further. You can arrange to phone your potential date and have several conversations - remember a large phone bill is a small price to pay to ensure that they are the right person for you.

Never give out your password

Always choose a password that isn't easy to guess and always change your passwords on a regular basis. This is just good practice. Also, we will never ask you to send your password by email. So if you receive an email requesting your password, please inform us about it.

Never give out any financial information or send money

At Date Inside Asia, we take every incident of abuse or scam very seriously and do our best to protect our customers and make your visit to Date Inside Asia safe and enjoyable. Customers are encouraged to be on guard at all times when dealing with others on our site. Although incidents of abuse or scam are extremely rare, it's still a good idea to be aware of how to recognise them especially if you are communicating with others privately offline.

Any scam is likely to involve a request at some point to send money abroad using a wire transfer service such as Western Union or PayPal. Of course you should never do this. Report anyone who asks for money to us.

If you have any other concerns, you can always contact our customer care team.

Meeting In Person for the First Time

When and where to meet

When meeting someone offline for the first time, meet them somewhere very public. You could choose a restaurant for lunch or a cafe for tea or coffee and avoid alcohol. Meet at a suitable time say no later than mid-afternoon is usually best, a good few hours before it gets dark.

Tell somebody

Just like when you are going on a holiday, or on a weekend trip, always tell somebody preferably a close friend or a family member of where you are and when you are likely to be back and do stay in touch with them before and after the date.

If you are not too confident about meeting your date alone for the first time - then perhaps you can take a friend along with you provided your date doesn't mind.

If things go badly

If things go badly, and you don't feel comfortable around your date, you should let them down gently. Don't say anything offending or detrimental to your date to affect their self esteem in anyway if you feel they don't meet your requirement. Try to be courteous and cheerful and show a sense of caring. Make sure you have an exit plan if things aren't going well. You can always find a good excuse to leave like for example, that you have an appointment at a beauty salon.

If things go well

If you happen to have a real good time, then arrange to contact each other again. Don't go home with your date on the first date. Likewise, don't get in the same car home with your date make sure you have your own form of transport. After your date, make sure you call your friend or family member and let them know that you are on your way home and do just that go home. Finally, take some time to reflect on your date. When you are good and ready, call or e-mail your date that first all important thank you. Remember not to get too personal or expect a second date immediately. They may have changed their mind about you, so don't get your expectations too high.

Meeting Abroad

When travelling abroad to meet someone for the first time, you should always take extra care and follow the tips below:

Stay in a hotel or private accommodation

If you can't afford to stay in a hotel or some other private accommodation, don't go at all. Never stay at the other person's home on your first visit.

Use public transport or a hired car to get to and from the airport

If the person you are visiting wants to greet you at the airport, that's great! That shows that they have a keen interest and it's polite. However, don't get into the same car with a person you are meeting for the first time.

Keep your hotel or private accommodation location private

Unless you are completely certain that you trust the person you are meeting, don't reveal exactly where you're staying.

Keep family and friends informed

Always tell somebody preferably a family member or a close friend where you are, who you are going to be meeting, where you are going to meet them and when you plan to return.
